Fossil fuels have received a bad rep over the past few years, and with good reason. Oil wars, nuclear reactor meltdowns and mining accidents have all contributed to a mistrust of traditional energy policy. Many of the G-20 nations are directly sponsoring or otherwise encouraging the production of so-called green energy and it appears that the sustainable sources like wind, hydroelectric and biomass are being seen as increasingly viable options.
Riding the crest of the green revolution wave, alternative energy provider VIASPACE has launched a new website to educate the masses about the benefits of Giant King Grass as an environmentally friendly biomass fuel. The company has purchased a separate
domain name registration, located at viaspacegreenenergy.com and separate from its main company site, in order to raise awareness and investment in the new biomass energy production technology.
Giant King Grass, for those yet to hear of it, is grass plant capable of growing in a variety of conditions and which, based on its high yield per acre and high energy content, is ideal for use as a biofuel. The website states that the hyper-resilient grass strain can yield up to forty-five metric tonnes of dry organic material per acre of arable land, and has an average energy content of more than 15,000 BTU per kilogram.
Perhaps more importantly, the grass does not strip soil of valuable nutrients and, if used properly, it leaves almost no carbon footprint. Company executive and GKG product manager Carl Kukkogen has said
free hosting information on the biofuel will inform consumers and investors "what Giant King Grass can do; what are its applications; and what are its advantages over other energy crops."
After scientists have expressed concerns about the overall efficiency of wind generated power and the carbon footprint involved in the manufacture of solar panels, governments have encouraged the development of biological energy sources among private companies like VIASPACE.
